Dying Light Weapon Durability Mod
Who require a high degree of image detail should be looking further up the resolution stack, for a WQHD or UHD monitor. In the not-too-distant past, most LCD monitors used cold-cathode florescent lamp (CCFL) technology for backlighting, but nowadays LED-backlit monitors are ubiquitous, and with good reason. To achieve this minimal mark, the panel must have a native resolution of at least 1,920 by 1,080 pixels, in a 16:9 aspect ratio to do it without stretching or cropping the picture. Speakers for keyboard. VA monitors also offer robust colors, but viewing-angle performance, while better than on a typical TN panel, is not quite as sharp as what you get from an IPS panel. Here in 2019, you'd be hard-pressed to find a desktop monitor that does not deliver a full HD image, at the minimum.
If you wanted a mod that makes Dying Light worth playing and more strategic then this is the mod for you. A complete overhaul meant to make you feel the intensity of the apocalypse. Just a quick mod to make weapon durability unlimited with no other changes. View mod page; View image gallery; Bear Arms Mod - 22 New Weapons. Don't look for a mod though unless you know where to place it, as the original location most were using in the Documents directory won't work anymore since patch 1.4. Follow this guide but place the edited file in the Data3.pak of the game directory instead of Documents/Dying Light/out. Make sure to use the shell folders described (data/skills).
Now I say this with all the love and consideration I can. But damn it if some of you are a bunch of babies when it comes to weapons.
Dying Light Inventory Mod
Oh no I ran out of repairs. Oh no there isn't enough upgrades to have 3 on every weapon ive come across. My god I just put 3 king upgrades on my military shovel and now I dont have any for my new orange katana 'curse you Techland'.
Here my advice and take it for what its worth. Only orange weapons are worth full best in slot upgrades. Maybe some purples but save it for orange. Only just use ONE weapon till it breaks. By the time my weapons run out I have enough to literally upgrade the next good weapon (usually on a vendor). My loadout is usually a rifle. A handgun. My beast of a main weapon and the Korek machete for emergency use only to get me back to a safe house.
Now some say dont waste bullets. But I say its a waste to have them sit in your inventory back at the safe house you cant collect ammo after you max if you dont use it so go nuts headshot those rot-bags before they even see you coming.
There is no 'best weapon'. Whatever your preferences are will decide your weapon of choice. Heavy hitting 2 handers might be your choice. Others fast carving machetes. You might like causing blunt force trauma, while another crane wants to carve them like a Christmas ham. Whatever you pick up enjoy it while it last. And keep your eyes peeled for the next big upgrade once it gets close to breaking. By the time that happens you should have scavenged up enough resources to have a equally powerful if not even better weapon.
Another advantage to this playstyle is you know longer feel the need to cart every tool for dismemberment you've grown fond of. Leaving your inventory open to haul back and sell to make more cash to buy more things you need.
I also advice you trade with other cranes. If he uses military throwing k nifes and you need shotgun rounds drop and swap. Your twins will all be better off for it.
Alright thats all I got hope you all have a splendid day good night and good luck.
(Edit: This has been patched out as of 1.2.1. As of 2 Feb, Techland issued a statement saying that the patching out of this and similar mods was an unintended side effect and will be restoring this functionality as soon as they can.)
Dying Light Weapon Durability Model
One of the things that really bummed me out about Dying Light was that there seemed to be no way to keep a weapon I liked for very long. Weapons could only be repaired a few times and then they were broken forever - I found this was making me have less fun with the game, so, I fixed it. I know there are a couple of skills that make melee weapons decay at a slower rate and make repairs have a chance to not consume repair cycles, but I didn't want to have to constantly worry about not fighting zombies just in order to save my weapons in case I may need them later. There may even be something in the game later on that allows one to keep weapons indefinitely, but I still haven't found it.
Here's how you do it:
- Extract SteamAppscommonDying LightDWData0.pak with 7zip or WinRAR to your desktop.
- Go to your desktop and find dataskillsdefault_levels.xml and open it with a plain text editor.
- Once default_levels.xml is open, search for the word durability and you'll see two variables: BluntWpnDurabilityLoss and CutWpnDurabilityLoss. Change these values to 0 and save the file, now exit your text editor.
- Copy and paste the modified default_levels.xml file to DocumentsDyingLightoutdataskills - you may have to create these directories manually.
- Start game and enjoy weapons that never decay or need repair!
There is a whole lot more you can change just in that one file, but I suggest doing one thing at a time and of course not modifying your original files just in case you mess something up and want to go back. If you don't like the idea of weapons that never lose durability no matter what, you can set the variables to something like 0.5 or 0.2 which will significantly slow down the rate of decay, but not make your weapons last forever. Play around with some of the other variables here, I especially like setting BluntCritSevereLimbProb to 1.0 :D
